Commissioned for San Francisco Ballet’s Unbound Festival, this production presented the rare opportunity of designing a new dance work after the choreography was completed.

Christopher Wheeldon created a series of vignettes exploring the isolation resulting from the use of social media and digital platfroms, offseting it with the warmth of human interaction shared in and with nature.

The scenography is an agora where individuals pass, meet and share space while focussed on their devices. It becomes the backdrop for video mapping of digital content and faded visions of nature.

Costuming blurs the line between streetwear, sportswear, dancewear and fashion – industrially manufactured or handmade.
